Ocho Rios is particularly known for its spectacular waterfalls, sprawling beaches, tropical gardens and fern gullies. For a memorable adventure, climb the 700-foot cascading waterfalls of Dunns River Falls.
Ocho Rios is at the crossroads of things to do and places to see. A lively blend of sun and fun. Vibrant and diverse. An ideal setting for nature-lovers and sun-worshippers.
Situated on Jamaica's northeast coast, the resort areas of Port Antonio, and Ocho Rios helped to launch large-scale tourism in Jamaica. Known for its abundant rainfall, verdant landscapes, rolling hills, and jagged estuaries, this region was once the preferred hangout for Noel Coward, Errol Flynn, and a host of British and American literati. Ian Fleming, creator of the James Bond spy thrillers, lived at Goldeneye near Ocho Rios.
“Overview”
Ocho Rios Beach
The Beache is great, perfect temperature and you can get sun as early as 8:00 am,
* Much better than Montego Bay, in terms of scenary
*During the Rainy season, it rains ( pours )from 11:00 am - 4:00pm , consistently, so do sights early
* I would book tours with " Tropical Tours" or " Jamaica Tours" , the other ones, is just a cab driver, driving you to your destination and hitting on you ( if you are female ) as much as he can
*Resorts usally open into a empty road, not a strip or city street , like Miami or Las vegas, so bring whatever you need ( especially women ) otherwise you will be having to pay 20 $ just to go into town
*I definenately recommend getting real Jamaican food off the resort , if you are not very adventurous, Island Village and the taj Mahal Shopping Plaza, have small cafes with good Jerk Chicken and Plantains
I stayed at the RIU , nice hotel , but lacks certain conviences, I doesn't sell all it should since it is the only place you cna by necessities and no Shuttles
