“Relaxing at the Point - Great!”

Point Village is a fantastic place to stay at a reasonable price. The location of the resort is the best we have seen in the Caribbean. Located on a secluded peninsula, the resort has two beautiful white sand beaches as well as hundreds of feet of rocky coast which is great for snorkeling. You can literally jump in the ocean any where, which I did often. My wife loves the beaches and I love the rocky coast for snorkeling, the best of both worlds. Don't forget to snorkel over to the island.

The grounds are beautiful and as clean as any other resort we have been to. However, some of the buildings are in need of a paint job. They have several large trees everywhere which gives the resort a tropical feel as well as makes it easy to find shade when you need it. The weather of course is fantastic and hot as always.

The food was very good with a reasonable selection every day for both of us to be happy at every meal. Personally I liked breakfast at the main restaurant the best. They also have two bar/restaurants located directly on the waters edge. Both of these where great places to eat lunch and dinner. Your table is located on the rocky coast, less than two feet from the ocean waves. The views are absolutely amazing. The bartenders are willing to make any drink, any way you want and do not look for tips. We found no difference in service between tipping and not tipping. Ask for more rum and they will happily pour more on. Needless to say, the drinks at all locations were plentiful and fantastic.

The rooms are clean with very good maid service however, they definitely need to be updated. This would be the only negative at Point Village. We had an ocean front suite on the 2nd floor which was clean and acceptable, but far from being luxurious. The balcony has a great view of the ocean and coast if you are standing up. Unfortunately, the balcony guard rail is a concrete wall which prevents you from seeing the ocean when you are sitting. This was not a problem for us because we spent most of our time sitting at one of the many great locations at the waters edge.

Another benefit is that Sunshine Scuba shop is located on the grounds of Point Village. This makes scuba diving very convenient. The diving and dive masters are excellent. I saw a large nurse shark, hundreds of lobster, a good amount of fish and beautiful colored coral which is as good or better than Cozumel. There are fewer fish than Cayman and Cozumel but the visibility and coral are very similar. Overall, Negril is excellent scuba diving.

We always rent a car and drive around site seeing every where we go. The town of Negril and the nearby mountains are not worth seeing. Most of the good attractions are about 1 to 1 ½ hour drive. However, there are several very good resorts and café’s which are well worth the short drive. We were so relaxed at the resort that we only drove around site seeing two times.

We had a great time and just love the island of Jamaica. We recommend Point Village and will most likely return soon.
